After being under renovation for years, the opening of the second avenue subway has rejuvenated business in the Upper East Side and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of the action. The NY Post recently featured Schaller & Weber as one of the businesses that have benefited from the recent long-awaited opening of this subway line that saw 52% of businesses in the construction zone close or relocate during the time it took to open it.
Read the rest of the story here on the NY Post and stop by, we’re right off the second avenue line at 86th street on the Q line! We hope you’ve made the trek out since it’s opened, because it makes getting here a breeze (seriously, it’s less than 20 minutes from Union Square.)
Grab a beer while you shop for delectable specialty meats, German beers and rare treats at the original Schaller & Weber location open since 1937. If you’re hungry on the spot, head next door for a bite at Schaller’s Stube where you can get a warm sausage (our favorites are the Saigon Special with fresh japapeños and the Aussie dog topped with fresh and fried onions and sweet beet ketchup) or try a piece of Grandma Schaller’s delicious fried chicken. Don’t forget to add one of the seasonal German beers on tap or one of our hard-to-find German refreshments to help you wash it all down. Prost!
